Alberta Express Entry Draw Breaks Records With 500 ITAs

Alberta Express Entry Draw Breaks Records With 500 ITAs

On September 7 Alberta held its largest Express Entry draw in history and invited 500 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination, with a minimum CRS score of at least 300. Since January 2021, Alberta has invited 4,507 Express Entry candidates to apply for a permanent residence since it resumed Express Entry invitations in January 2021.

Express Entry is Canada's program to choose skilled immigrants to invite to become permanent residents based on their ability to settle in Canada successfully. Alberta plans to invite 6,250 Express Entry candidates in 2021. Due to the pandemic restrictions initiated in March 2020, Alberta's Express Entry stopped invitations in 20202 and resumed in 2021.

Do You Qualify For Express Entry?

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) assigns candidates up to 100 points and ranks applicants based on their age, education, work experience, language ability in English or French, and other ranking factors.

What's Your CRS Score?

The Alberta Express Entry stream is part of the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

What If I Don't Qualify For Express Entry?

If you do not qualify for permanent residence under the Canada Express Entry program, you may qualify under the Express Entry PNP program. The Provincial Nominee Program allows each territory and/or provincial government to select qualified immigrants for Express Entry based on the specific economic needs of that territory or province.

If you do not qualify for the federal or provincial Express Entry programs, there are other ways you may qualify to move to Canada, such as the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program. An experienced immigration legal professional can review your qualifications and advise you on whether you qualify for any programs to move to Canada.

Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP)

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program offers 5 immigration streams:

  1. Alberta Opportunity Stream
For qualified candidates who live and work in Alberta and have a job offer from an Alberta employer.
  2. Alberta Express Entry Stream
Qualified candidates with an Express Entry profile may be invited by AINP to apply for nomination for permanent residence through the Express Entry (EE) system if they have a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 300 and are currently working in an eligible occupation.
  3. Alberta Self-Employed Farmer Stream
Experienced farmers who plan to buy or start a farm in Alberta can apply for permanent residence.
  4. International Graduate Entrepreneur Immigration Stream
International graduates of Alberta post-secondary institutions can apply for permanent residence.
  5. Foreign Graduate Start-Up Visa
Foreign graduates from outside of Canada can apply for permanent residence.
