Are You Prepared for FSWP Express Entry To Resume In July?

The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) Express Entry draws will resume in early July after temporarily stopping in December 2020 due to the pandemic staffing restrictions and border closures. On April 22, the Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, announced that Invitations to Apply will resume in early July, and the vast majority of new applications will be processed within the 6-month service standard.

Apply Now For the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)

Candidates interested in applying for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) through Express Entry should prepare and submit their applications now.

"Beat the rush of applicants by applying for Express Entry now! It takes time to thoroughly prepare your application and assemble the required documentation," said Calgary immigration lawyer Evelyn Ackah. "When FSWP Express Entry permanent residence (PR) draws resume in early July, you want your application to be ready!"

What Is The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)?

The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) has been Canada’s most popular economic immigration program for over 50 years. Canada's current Immigration Levels Plan calls to welcome over 400,000 newcomers from 2022-2023:

  • 2022: 411,000
  • 2023: 421,000

Immigration is critical to Canada's economic recovery. Canadian employers are experiencing a severe labour shortage while unemployment is at historic lows. The Canadian government plans to increase annual Express Entry admissions to more than 110,000 immigrants in 2024.

FSWP Eligibility Criteria

Candidates for the Federal Skilled Worker Program must meet the minimum FSWP eligibility requirements for work, language ability, education and a score of at least 67 points out of a possible 100 Selection Factor criteria points before they are Invited To Apply for Express Entry.
