Already In Canada? You May Be Eligible for Express Entry - Lowest CRS Scores In Years!

Canada's Express Entry is accepting the lowest qualifying scores in years for in-Canada applicants. On August 19, Canada issued 3000 Express Entry permanent residence Invitations To Apply. Candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System CRS score of over 403 received an ITA (Invitation To Apply). Applicants were required to qualify for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) as in-Canada immigration applicants. Year to date, Canada has issued 105,779 ITAs with a 2021 target of 108,500. In the first 6 months of 2020, Canada had issued only 53,800 ITAs due to the pandemic.

On February 13, Express Entry invited CEC candidates with a CRS score of at least 75 - the lowest qualifying score ever!

  • July 8:
Canada issued 4500 Express Entry permanent residence Invitations To Apply on July 8. Candidates with an EE score over 369 received an ITA.
  • June 10:
Canada issued over 6000 Express Entry permanent residence Invitations To Apply on June 10. Candidates with an EE score over 368 received an ITA.
  • May 13:
Canada issued 4147 Express Entry permanent residence Invitations To Apply on May 13. Candidates with a score over 401 received an ITA.
  • April 16:
The Canadian government issued 6,000 Express Entry permanent residence Invitations To Apply on April 16. Candidates with a score over 417 received an ITA.

Why In-Canada Applicants?

To meet immigration goals, IRCC is prioritizing applicants already living in Canada while pandemic travel restrictions remain in place. Express Entry applicants can now earn up to 50 additional points for strong French language skills.

During the pandemic, IRCC is only holding CEC and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)specific draws. Applicants can apply either through the federal Express Entry program or through PNP draws, which target local needs.

What Is Express Entry Canada?

Express Entry was launched by the Canadian government as a way to choose skilled immigrants to become Permanent Residents in Canada based on their ability to settle in Canada successfully. It is a point-based system where applicants are awarded up to 1200 points to identify those applicants who are most likely to succeed in Canada.

Express Entry is used to manage applications for Permanent Residence under three federal economic immigration programs:

Under Express Entry, you are awarded a CSR score on factors that include your age, education, skilled work experience and your proficiency in English or French. Your CRS score will determine your rank in the Express Entry pool and your chances of being invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada.

The highest-ranking candidates in the Express Entry pool receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) and have 60 days to complete their application for Permanent Residence in Canada.

If you do not qualify for the federal Express Entry pool you may qualify for one of Canada's provinces under the PNP Express Entry system.
