Online Status Tool: Check Your Immigration Application

Canada's IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) is prioritizing applications from people who are exempt from travel restrictions. IRCC is experiencing significant processing delays due to COVID restrictions and has released updated information on the immigration application processing backlog. To help keep applicants updated, IRCC has also released an online status tool so applicants can check their status online.

Currently, IRCC is processing applications submitted May 24 and 30, 2020 for:

  • Express Entry
  • Permanent Residence
  • Atlantic Immigration Pilot
  • Canadian Experience Class
  • Caregivers
  • Federal Skilled Workers
  • Federal Skilled Trades
  • Humanitarian and Compassionate Cases
  • Protected Persons
  • Provincial Nominees
  • Quebec-selected Skilled Workers
  • Quebec Investors
  • Quebec Entrepreneurs
  • Self-employed People
  • Start-up Visas
  • Temporary resident permits

Currently, IRCC is processing applications submitted December 13 and December 19, 2020 for:

  • Students

Online Processing Time Tool

IRCC has released an online status tool for applicants to check the status of their application.

Improved IRCC Services

In addition to the updated processing times and online status tool, Canada has initiated new programs and services to help reach its immigration goals to welcome over 1,200,000 newcomers over the next 3 years. Due to COVID restrictions, IRCC has made the following updates:

  • Expedited Family Class
  • Expanded Express Entry Draw for Immigrants Living in Canada
  • New Open Work Permit for Hong Kong Residents
  • New Work Permit Policy for Foreign Graduate Students
  • Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) New Pathways To Permanent Residency
  • Immigrants Working in Healthcare Have More Opportunity For Permanent Residency
  • Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) New Expression of Interest (EOI) System
